Tribute to my Mom

Last week, I had the privilege of doing the memorial service for my Mom.  Her name is Helena Leiding Funk.  She was born on December 6, 1914 and passed away December 15, 2009.
When I think about her life, I think of faithfulness.
She was faithful to God. Her faith was primary in her life.  It was Mom who led me in a prayer to invite Christ into my life when I was very young.  Along with Dad, she showed me the importance of things like going to church regularly, praying consistently, giving, and being involved in ministry.
She was faithful to my Dad.  He passed away in 2004 and just before he died, he and Mom celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary.  I am sure that just like any relationship, they had some challenges but they never dragged those out in front of us their children.
She was faithful to herself.  She was a person of strong integrity and was concerned about making sure we did what was right.
She was faithful to her children.  There are 12 living children in our family, 29 grandchildren, and over 30 great grandchildren.  She loved us in her own quiet way and prayed for us consistently.
Proverbs 31:28 say, "Her children arise and called her blessed..."
Thanks Mom
